Luis J. Ingels is a Grammy-nominated first-generation Latin-American music educator, teacher mentor, performer, and clinician currently based in New York City.
First in his family to graduate High School and College, he holds a Master of Music and Music Education from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Music from University of California, Santa Cruz.
Professional recognition includes being chosen as one of 50 teachers honored during Disney’s 50th Anniversary Teacher Celebration (only music teacher chosen), two Good Morning America appearances, Grand Marshal in the Disney 50 Teachers Parade, selected to march at the 2023 Macy’s Thanksgivings Day Parade with the Band Director’s Marching Band, several news articles, all of which continues to expand.
As a school educator with a strong focus on social-emotional development, his student groups have been invited to and performed at major events and festivals around the United States such as the New York City Marathon, Radio City Music Hall, Disneyworld Performing Arts OnStage and “You’re Instrumental” Workshops, Universal Studios STARS Stage Performance, New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) festivals, and others.
His professional accomplishments include performing at international venues such Carnegie Hall in 2008, England in 2012, Lincoln Center in 2015, NYC Highline, Central Park, and others.
His private music studio strives to inspire creative and thoughtful experiences, self-confidence in performance and improvisation, and a life-long joy of music.
Originally from Southern California, he lived in New York City for 10 years and now resides in Ithaca, NY teaching music at a Public Rural Title 1 Elementary School.
